Valve Developing ‘SteamGPT’: A New AI Solution Aimed at Steam Support and CS2 Cheat Detection

Evidence of a new AI-powered tool called “SteamGPT” has been discovered within Steam’s internal code, suggesting Valve is preparing a major integration of artificial intelligence to manage platform support and combat cheating in Counter-Strike 2.

The Leak: What is SteamGPT?

The discovery was made by prominent Steam researcher and data-miner Gabe Follower, who shared findings indicating that Valve is working on an internal AI utility. According to code snippets and screenshots, SteamGPT is being designed to automate and streamline the Steam Support experience.

More importantly for players, the data suggests the AI is being linked to Trust Factor and Counter-Strike 2’s anti-cheat framework. While Valve has not officially commented, the integration implies a shift toward AI-driven behavioral analysis to identify and ban cheaters in real-time. If released, the feature is expected to undergo a standard Beta testing phase before a full rollout.

Evolving AI Policies

This development follows Valve’s January update to its AI disclosure guidelines. Since 2024, the platform has required developers to be transparent about AI use in their games. However, Valve recently clarified that “built-in” AI tools used during the development process do not require specific disclosure, signaling the company’s growing acceptance of AI as a fundamental pillar of modern gaming infrastructure.

Steam Storefront Redesign

In addition to the AI leaks, Valve recently overhauled the Steam Store home page for Beta participants. Launched on April 2, the redesign aims to improve game discovery through:

  • Infinite Scroll: A seamless browsing experience on the home page.
  • Visual Enhancements: Higher-resolution game art and a cleaner layout.
  • New Sections: Dedicated areas for user wishlists and DLC for games already in a player’s library.
  • Cross-Platform Support: The new design is optimized for the Steam Client, Steam Deck, and Big Picture mode.

Hardware Horizon: 2026 Roadmap

The rumors of SteamGPT arrive as Valve prepares for a massive hardware push later this year. The company is reportedly finalizing a new lineup of devices for 2026, headlined by a PC/console hybrid Steam Machine running on SteamOS. Other highly anticipated releases include the Steam Frame VR headset and a next-generation Steam Controller, solidifying Valve’s intent to dominate both the software and hardware markets this year.
